Austrian jazz Trio (A)

Founded on Austrian, musical fertile soil- from Mozart to Zawinul- this highly energetic trio finds it self playing „swinging“ and some „funk“ oriented material. Along with Serbian Bassist Milan Nikolic, Anthony Wonsey and Joris Dudli present originals and jazz standards, coined by the great American tradition, although „Made in Austria“.

 

Anthony Wonsey

Anthony’s  dedication and depth of talent earned him a full scholarship to Berklee College of Music. Since graduating Berklee in 1994 Anthony started working with a variety of important artist. He has recorded and/ or toured with Nina Freelon, Kenny Garrett, Carmen Lundy, Antonio Hart, Clark Terry and Chris McBride. During the past few years, Anthony Wonsey found himself in the bands of Elvin Jones, Buster Williams, Lenny White,Nicholas Payton and Pharaoh Sanders. He currently records for Sharp Nine Records.

 

Milan Nikolic

Born 1973 in Krusevac, Serbia, Bassist Milan Nikolic began playing "Rhythm&Blues" on electric bass at age 17. In 1993 he moved to Belgrad and established himself on jazz scene. After 3 years he switched to playing upright bass and finished his master at the Graz Jazz College in 2003. Since then he has been working with Benny Golson, Sheila Jordan, Fritz Pauer, Ed Neumeister, Don Menza, Renato Chicco, Seamus Blake, Billy Harper, Johnathan Blake, Stjepko Gut and Dusko Gojkovic.

 

Joris Dudli

Starting his musical journey in the late 1970’s as a studio session player, 18 year old Dudli can be heard on many recordings of Austrian Pop Legends. After becoming a steady member of the “Vienna Art Orchestra” he has worked with all of Austrian’s Jazz Greats. Almost all- it wasn’t until  2004 when Dudli finally had a chance to play with Joe Zawinul’s “Syndicate”. In the late 1980’s, it was US trompeter Art Farmer who played a major role in connecting Dudli with the New York Jazzszene. He has recorded and performed with: Benny Bailey, Jerry Bergonzi, Johnny Griffin, Clifford Jordan, Jimmy Heath, Tom Harell, Eddie Henderson, Joe Henderson, Joe Lovano, Mulgrew Miller, Sal Nistico, Mickey Tucker, Harold Vick, and many others.
