Plzeň is the metropolis of West Bohemia and lies on the route from Prague to Nuremberg. It has 175 000 inhabitants, abundant industry (particularly manufacturing and brewing) and a rich cultural-social life and history. The tourist industry is focussed around the core of the city, near Náměstí Republiky. Here you will find a unique display of architectural works from various schools. Plzeň has an extensive complex of underground corridors (17km) and a rich selection of places for relaxation and recreation: a number of theatres, galleries, unique museum exhibitions, a golf course and a gorgeous Zoo.
